THE OLD BEETLE MARK

The jewel beetle had become an important visual element, and Mary was particularly attached to it. Jeremy became less certain that a beetle could function as a sufficiently distinctive mark.

While walking on Gothersgade in Copenhagen, Jeremy and Mary passed Cucaracha Bar. Its insect symbol was close enough to the general symbol type KRYSSELLE had used to make the limitation tangible: a generic beetle could overlap easily with other identities. This was an observation, not an allegation of copying, conflict or infringement.

The beetle was retired as the primary mark. It remains in the Archive as a symbol of the origin story.
